This one was difficult to choose from since we had so many beautiful submissions of extremely talented Greek and International vendors from all over the world. However, this Boheme Elopement Wedding inspiration ticked all boxes and more. Moreover, what truly made this the winner of our Ellwed Awards is the simple elegance and creative incorporation of the ancient Greek Medieval city into the story. That is to say, a perfect inspiration to elope to Greece! We want to thank Nikos Makrakos for capturing and submitting this Inspirational Shoot to Ellwed.

Ethereal Fine art Elopement inspiration from Monemvasia

“A custom lace gown with a dramatic pearl veil was created for the shoot and paired with a delicate bouquet by Da Fiori Design. Furthermore, to build on the luxuriance of the lace and pearls in the gown, the elements of ivory, silver and velvet became central to the rest of the design of the editorial. The colour palette of the floral design and tablescape referenced a pale Venetian pink, from another building from that time period in Monemvasia. We combined pale pink hues with taupe, dusty lilac and grey, to be consistent with the overall aesthetic of the shoot. Which was to be opulent and refined, aged and muted all at once.
Furthermore, the floral centrepiece on the tablescape was oversized and dramatic. In addition, the tablescape sourced antique silverware and mix and matched Venetian style glassware. Together with Italian wood charger plates with velvet napkins and gorgeous love letters on each elopement table setting. Above all, the stationery suite by Curved and Co. featured a hand drawn depiction of the town of Monemvasia. And all was hand lettered on handmade paper with brown ink.”

How we choose the winner:
First and foremost, the wedding story must be published in our magazine in that year, to be considered for “The Best of” wedding AWARD by Ellwed.
We are always looking for unique ideas, we focus on the theme, trend factors and the overall look. Above all, to be nominated for the award, the wedding or a styled shoot has stand out. We are paying attention at the style and the quality of photography, as well as:
- The design
- New, inspirational ideas
- Different, unique elements
- The location – in Greece
- Magazine worthiness
- The story behind the shoot or wedding
- And to be current or up to date
The final decision is then down to personal and expert opinion.
To stay fair and unbiased, we exclude our Ellwed Cover Shoots from this award.
The winning wedding is announced in the last issue of Ellwed.
