DO MASKS ACTUALLY WORK?
Yes and no! It depends on the quality of your mask and your situation. IF you are sick or think you might be a carrier, you should definitely use the mask at all times when going out or interacting with people!
Surgical masks can help contain the spreading of the virus if you are a carrier and can also help protecting you from airborne diseases such as coronavirus if they are made from proper materials! A simple paper tissue mask will not give you the same protection as the surgical or tickly woven cotton mask. One way to test material is to blow through it. If the air passes through, the masks are more or less useless. Oppositely, if the air does not pass through the masks will work, however, maybe not 100%!
Coronavirus mainly transmits with fluids which we ingest. Now, these could be tiny amounts we don’t even see or notice with our bare eyes! If we touch our eyes, face, mouth or nose with infected hands, we will most probably get the virus. The same goes if we are in the vicinity of an infected person who is sneezing or simply talking! Here is where the masks come in handy. Because our face is mainly protected, this helps minimizing the chance of infections. You should not wear one-use mask for more than 3 or 5 hours and definitely dispose them properly and carefully with disinfecting your hands afterwards.
Remember that these tissue paper one use face masks are simply a bit better protection than not having anything. However, by wearing any mask, does not mean you are fully protected from getting the virus. Nevertheless, you should always wear one if you are coughing or sneezing.

FOR THESE FUN AND EASY NO SEW ONE USE FACE MASKS YOU WILL NEED:
- Fun, colourful tissues or napkins of your choice. Preferably thicker or better quality ones.
- Scissors, preferably small pair
- String or ribbon or simply rubber bands
- Optional, hole puncher or a tool for making a small hole

HOW TO MAKE YOUR fun and easy no sew one use face masks:
#1
Fold the tissue like a harmonica or the Z fold and press it with your hands. If your tissue is rectangular, then hold it on the long side and fold the shorter sides. Different sized napkins will make bigger or smaller face masks.
#2
Hold the tissues at the folded edge and make a hole with your small pointy scissors or some other tool you have. BE CAREFUL here not to hurt your fingers or yourself while doing that!
#3
Repeat the hole making process on the other side as well
#4
Prepare your strings. Measure approximately the length of the string you need from your ear to your mouth and make the loop or double that length. Remember, it is better to make it a bit longer than too short. If you have the rubber bands, it will be easier to use as you don’t need to measure anything.

#5
When you have the holes or the openings ready, you can insert the string or the rubber bands.
Using the string: Simply pass one end of the string through the hole at one edge of the folded tissue. When passed through, pull it till the middle to make sure that both ends are same length creating a loop. Then make a simple or half knot all the way down, to secure the string at the folded edges of the napkin. Then take the two ends of the string and make another knot, the overhead knot, with both ends of the string.

Using the rubber bands: Fold one rubber band on half and push one end though the hole on the edge of the folded tissue. You might need to use a tool to help guide the band through the opening if those are small. A toothpick will do! Again, be careful when pushing a point tool through the hole, as it can slip and hurt your fingers. After you have managed to push the folded rubber band through the hole on the folds of the tissue, pass one end of the rubber band under the other loop and pull. That will tie the rubber band to the napkin. Your rubber band should now be attached to the folded napkin at one end and the other should have one bigger loop which will go around your ear.

#6
After you have done this for the both ends, take the folded napkin and carefully stretch it out from one side. Now try it on your mouth and around your ears. If the strings are too loose, you can simply make another knot at the end. If they are too small, cut it off and use a longer string. The rubber bands should easily stretch around your ears without any problems.
