And now, let’s get started!
Tell us a bit about your story, what lead you to your current career path?
Approximately 10 years ago, my best friend and her fiancé decided to get married. She did not know anything about planning a wedding. Even though she is Greek, she had spent most of her life in the UK and only visited Greece for vacation. She had only been to a couple of weddings before the wedding proposal. I was more than happy to help her with everything that she needed. One of the first appointments that we had was with the sound and light company, MIXMIX Sound and Light. This is when I first met Mihalis Mihas, the owner of the company who became my husband in 2014.
As I always liked the whole process of planning events, I soon decided to start helping him with some back-office tasks. As the years passed by, I got more and more involved at the company. I am now in charge of sales and marketing.
What inspires you in the business and daily life?
The love stories of our wedding couples are always an inspiration for the current and future events. I spend a lot of time at online groups relevant to romance, weddings and events and love talking to other wedding professionals.
What was your best experience as a sales director? What do you like about weddings in Greece?
My best experience was when I took part at my first destination wedding in 2017. The couple, Mihalis and I made several skype calls but meeting them in real life was by far very different. I was thrilled to then travel to the wonderful island of Milos and get to witness their exchange of vows and their celebration with their closest friends and family. The biggest reward came at the end of the wedding party when the couple thanked us for the outcome.
What I most like in weddings in Greece is the picturesque locations by the sea. I believe that our beaches and our sea are our greatest asset that can make ceremonies and parties as romantic as possible.
What trend do you see picking up in the world of weddings?
The trend that I see picking up in weddings is the use of eco-friendly materials and the “less-is-more” attitude. Smaller and simpler wedding ceremonies and parties are here to stay.
Is there one question that almost every client asks you about their wedding in Greece? What is it and what is your answer?
These past months, the most common questions had to do with the restrictions and measures due to Covid-19. What I keep telling our lovely couples is that Greece is a safe place to get married, that all rules are being followed and that all professionals involved in the wedding industry are more than happy to offer solutions and make sure that everything goes as planned and as imagined.
Which is you favourite location for a destination wedding in Greece and why?
If I had to choose a location for my destination wedding in Greece, it would definitely be an island. My two favourites are Sifnos and Kea. They both offer amazing beaches and views.
Tell us a bit more about what you are currently working on?
As many weddings have been postponed for the summer of 2021, I am currently working on the new details for the new dates. The lockdown was also a good opportunity for our company’s rebranding and social media presence. I am also volunteering with the local Make-A-Wish Foundation for Children.
And for the last question, what advice would you give to all couples who want to get married in Greece? What is that one important thing your brides should know or pay attention to before coming to Greece?
I would advice couples that are thinking to get married in Greece to first come for a holiday trip and then they will definitely decide on hosting their wedding here. Brides that want to get married in the summer time should decide on a date quite early as our country is a very popular destination.
