Tell us a bit about your story, what lead you to your current career path?
I’ve been doing art and crafting since childhood. Actually I wanted to be an architect & interior designer (or an egyptologist) and have a passion for design overall. I went into web design as a fall back during schooling and fell in love with it. About 6 years into my career in advertising, I began missing working with my hands. That is how I started up a custom jewellery company which transitioned into stationery & branding.
A user experience designer by trade, my background in art and design isn’t just professional. It’s been a deep-seated passion for as long as I can remember. My boutique design firm, A Good Day, was born to serve planners and their couples eclectic, one-of-a-kind stationery that establishes a unique brand for each event. From save-the-dates and invitations to day-of signage and menus. I draw inspiration from my diverse array of interests spanning fashion, architecture, interior design, and film to curate an aesthetic that perfectly matches each clients’ vision for their celebration.
Utilizing my extensive UX experience, I also regularly work with creatives on digital projects, to ensure they are capturing the very essence of their brand and Branding for Your Wedding Day!
What inspires you in the business and daily life?
I am obsessed with all things design, fashion, art, interior design and love getting to be a part of couples wedding days. Sharing in something so personal and intimate for their guests. I also draw a lot of inspiration from music, film & television. I’m a sucker for great costume and production design.
What was your best experience as a Stationer? What do you like about weddings in Greece?
Weddings in Greece are so intimate & at the same time a place for community; there is something magical about island weddings with gorgeous views of the ocean.
What trend do you see picking up in the world of weddings?
I see personalization picking up, especially with the trend of micro weddings. Giving guests a unique experience that feels specific to them in the context of the full event. Gifting that is curated to the couple but also the recipient.
Is there one question that almost every client asks you about their wedding in Greece? What is it and what is your answer?
The question I get asked most often is “What can we do to get our guests excited about the wedding” and for me the answer is simple – Share your passion for choosing Greece through design elements and the itinerary you set forward for your guests.
Which is your favourite location for a destination wedding in Greece and why?
My father’s family is from a small island in the Dodecanese (Nisiros) and we’ve been there for an island wedding and it was just magical. The food, music and remote feeling was so perfect. Above all, I love seeing photos of our couples weddings from all over Greece as each area and island has such a unique feeling. And the views are just gorgeous.
Share with us 3 things about you we should know?
I’ve been married to my husband for 10 years – we eloped in the rocky mountains in western Canada. My dad is Greek & my mother is Cypriot – I was born and raised in Canada. All of our invitations have at least one handmade element with the majority of our work being crafted & assembled by hand.
And for the last question, what advice would you give to all couples who want to get married in Greece?
Try to plan extra time for your guests to enjoy the history and culture of Greece either before or after your event – give them a good primer of what there is around your selected location so they can plan accordingly.
Plan your travel & guests travel with enough of a buffer so they aren’t rushed to get between transit points. Give your guests all the options for flights & ferries so they can plan accordingly.
If someone wants to get in touch with you, where can they find you?
