Rebecca is a UK and destination wedding photographer who specialises in beautiful, romantic, editorial style wedding photography. With the background in fashion blogging, she is well versed in social media and content creation for her brand, whit hints of their everyday life. As a new #momboss, she is finding balance between motherhood, mentoring, travel and her photography business.

Tell us your story, what led you to your current career path?
Hello! I’m Rebecca Carpenter! A UK and destination wedding photographer who specialises in beautiful, romantic, editorial style wedding photography. I started my photography journey as a fashion blogger and have always had a love for weddings, after having my own and attending several of my friends’. I photographed my first wedding in 2017 and I was hooked!!
Is there one question all couples ask you before their wedding? What is it and what is your answer?
I’m always told, “We’re not very photogenic, we don’t know how to pose, can you help us?” and I always tell my couples, you don’t need to be models! All I need is for you to trust me on the day and have fun, and I’ll make you look fabulous! Because that’s my job, to put my couples at ease and create an unforgettable experience for them.
So let’s talk TikTok. We see you are very active there. Do you also connect with your couple over there?
Yes, I have several of my clients follow me on there who love to see another side of me, whether it’s my home life, my baby, my adventures or behind the scenes. I post a mixture of content on the TikTok platform.
Instagram and Pinterest are probably the most used social media platforms where brides and pros hang out the most. But what about TikTok? Do you find brides and pros also on TikTok?
Tik Tok became one of the fastest growing platforms in 2020 for new users in Lockdown, and you’ll find that most businesses and brands- both large and small- are on there. It’s the most exciting new way to find new and exciting content and suppliers. Whether it’s discovering a new supplier, seeing behind the scenes, Tik Tok loves promoting small businesses.
Why did you start using TikTok? Tell us a bit more about this new platform and how it works.
Truth be told, I started using TikTok out of boredom in lockdown in March 2020. I wasn’t working and found myself inspired to create my own videos for fun and soon realised what a powerful platform it really was. It’s as simple as uploading a video of ANYTHING!! With audio, with voiceovers, with music, photos, video! The possibilities are endless.
People will watch anything and everything. There is a video for everyone. Animals, babies, food, cooking, travel, comedy, movies, celebrities, dogs, cats, cleaning and of course fashion and weddings…you name it, there is a video for it! The videos are quick bursts of content, super easy to digest and scroll through. Soon the TikTok algorithm will pick up the type of content you enjoy and show you more of it.
As a content creator, would you say it is easy to use?
It’s so easy to use- I would even say at the present time it’s more user friendly than Instagram Reels.
Can brides use TikTok to find their wedding suppliers? How can they do this?
To find your dream wedding suppliers, all you need to do is type into the search bar what you’re looking for…eg: ‘Santoriniweddingflowers’ and you’ll find videos of suppliers through the hashtag feature.
Would you recommend wedding professionals to start using this platform and why?
I would definitely recommend everyone to start using TikTok, it’s another marketing platform that’s completely free to use! And it’s so powerful. Some videos go completely viral and can expose you to your dream clients around the world!
You also came to Greece and had some shoots here. So what should couples think of, before starting to plan their wedding in Greece? Any advice for destination brides who want to get married here?
Think about high season and low season (when all the tourists visit Santorini on the ferries) marrying on a weekday means it’ll be quieter, and you’ll have more options of venue availability and bagging your dream suppliers. Get married as late in the afternoon as possible when the sun is less harsh, so you truly get the most beautiful photographs and it won’t be as intense in the heat. Don’t be afraid to explore other parts of the island such as Imerovigli, which isn’t as busy as Oia but still beautiful and has the blue domes and Skaros Rock which is stunning.
Tell us a bit more about what you are currently working on?
I’ve just released my new black and white presets package on my website, which I’m getting some really great feedback about. I’m also very excited to be releasing my Instagram masterclass within the next few weeks. This has been a passion project of mine for the last few months. I’ve poured all my social mediaexperience and expertise into this so I’m looking forward to sharing it with people.
And for the last question, what is that major one advice you would give to couples planning their wedding?
It’s your day! And your day only! So do it your way!!
