Getting Married in Greece in The Middle of the Pandemic
Vlada and George got married on the 15/05/20 in Athens Greece in the midst of the pandemic! It was simple but the love for each other is what truly matters!
Are you Getting Married? This real #coronabride tells us her story!
We met Vlada a couple of years ago, when she was the model for our 3rd cover of Ellwed magazine. And when we found out she is actually getting married, and in the middle of the pandemic no less, we just had to have her story!
So what happens when love cannot be cancelled, but the celebration can be postponed?
This is how Vlada and George decided to that no matter what they will still be getting married despite the pandemic!
From Vlada:
We met each other 8 years ago, I was on my way home, and George was going to his work when he stopped me on the street and we started talking. It feels like faith brought us together and next day we arranged a coffee with our friends and from that day we are together all these years.
We both live in Greece, and for about 5 years now we are living together. So in December 2019, George surprised me with a proposal. However first months we were not thinking when we will be getting married or how and where we will celebrate our wedding.
Things got complicated when corona virus came to Italy and the whole world was on lockdown. That is how we made a decision not to celebrate our wedding in 2020, nevertheless we wanted to get married. So we decided to tie the knot in the local town hall this year. And next year, we will organize a celebration and we also want to get married in a church.
We arranged our wedding in the town hall at the 1st of April. But 2 weeks before, the quarantine ruined our plans, so we contacted the town hall to ask what we can do, and they offered us to reschedule the date because we couldn’t invite anyone, even our best man and my maid of honour. So we rearranged to tie the knot on the 15th of May, sadly without any friends or family. It was just the two of us and our witnesses, or best man and my maid of honour. Not even a photographer! Definitely it was not my dream wedding, but who cares! Next year I hope we will celebrate like the old times and have the wedding we always wanted.
“I am staying hopeful and looking forward to that day!”
After the wedding at the town hall, we changed our clothes and we wanted to go to the beach. Unfortunately everything was closed! That is why we decided to do it the Greek way! Celebrate no matter what! So we got a souvlaki a couple of beers and just chilled on a coast. What more could we ask for? What matters is that we have each other and beautiful views of the sea to make it more romantic! We didn’t have much choice to do anything else, as we are still afraid to invite our friends at home, due to coronavirus.
I truly hope that by next summer things will get better and that the pandemic will end. Then we can arrange our wedding in the church, with all our friends and relatives, followed by an amazing dinner and party till sunrise! I am staying hopeful and looking forward to that day! This gave me a chance to plan my wedding twice! How exciting is that?
