One of the best real weddings of past year, which was featured in Ellwed must have been this one! This happy brides simply seduced us with her charms.
We are giving our award for the best real wedding every year since the begging of Ellwed. And this year is no exception. The awarded weddings are announced in every Winter issue of Ellwed at the end of the year.

“Our planner Margreet Riemeijer was amazing. She was taking care of every single detail in our wedding planning process. Furthermore, she personally coordinated the entire day and in addition, made sure that we and all our guests had the best possible experience. From the moment Margreet agreed to be our wedding planner she started planning every detail. Things moved forward quickly, including all the things we had not even considered.
However, we decided on the location one year before our wedding, when we visited Crete. But leading up to the wedding day, we were only able to come to Crete a week before. Therefore, we needed to put all our trust in Gamos Crete Weddings. Above all, they coordinated everything with the two separate venues for the wedding ceremony and reception plus all the different vendors and local suppliers. To point out, we had a very international wedding and our guests came from all over the world.
Gamos Crete Weddings also come with many recommended vendors and suppliers they work with regularly and we fully endorse all the choices Margreet suggested for us. The gave us plenty of information in advance and examples of past weddings to help guide our choices. This helped us make the right decisions for our wedding. However, we always had the final decision and we did not feel pressured booking any recommendations.
Moreover, the wedding celebrant, Henk Bekker recommended by Gamos, spoke perfect English and Dutch. And we felt very lucky to have him and Margreet by our side for this big day. What is more, he took a lot of time to get to know us before our wedding. He spent a lot of time with us and our guests before the ceremony so it was a very personal experience for us and our families.
In the end our wedding was something straight from the movies! We and all of our guests were so happy. And very impressed from start to finish.”

How we chose the best wedding and the best inspiration
To be nominated for the Ellwed wedding AWARD, the wedding story must have been published in our magazine.
We are always looking for unique ideas, we focus on the theme, trend factors and the overall look. The wedding or a styled shoot story has to stand out of the crown somehow.
We are paying attention at the style and the quality of photography, as well as:
- The design
- New, inspirational ideas
- Different, unique elements
- The location – in Greece
- Magazine worthiness
- The story behind the shoot or wedding
- And to be current or up to date
The final decision is then down to personal and expert opinion.
To stay fair and unbiased, we exclude our Ellwed Cover Shoots from this award.

BEST REAL WEDDING OF 2019
For the best wedding in Greece we chose this beautiful and happy love story from Crete, which ticked all the boxes! Although, there was some tough competition from our previous issues, we could not look past the happiest bride we have ever seen! Panned by Gamos Crete and captured by HannaMonika Photography, this romantic and happy wedding was full of emotions. And this is what tipped the needle.
