How did the newlyweds meet?
We knew each other from the village in Greece from which we are from. I remember, when we were kids we used to play hide and seek during the summer holidays. Being both teenagers we lost the contact and never really talked to each other but saw each other every time I went to the village for the summer holidays. Two years ago back again in our village we sat at the same table with common friends.
We started to talk to each other and he asked where I use to go out in Zurich and maybe we can meet there too. He was so straight forward and told me that he doesn’t see me as a friend, which made me laugh. I surprised him when I responded that neither I see him as a friend. Later we found out that we liked each other since we were kinds and we waited to “just see” each other during the summer holidays.
How did he propose?
No day had passed without seeing each other since that evening in Greece. He knew that I love astronomy and took me to the observatory in Zurich. During the show we went out to one of the many balconies were he proposed only 3 months after the night we had met in Greece. Fun fact, on the proposal day Antonis without knowing it gave me the ring that for many years I had a huge crush on and it was such a surprise for me.
Describe your glamorous backyard wedding day. What happened?
The wedding was in summer 2020 on the first of August in our home village after two years relationship.
We were not the couple which was nervous before the wedding, we were never worried. We had people on our side which were the best of the best and we trusted them. The day passed like a dream… everything was perfect, everyone was sooo happy and we forgot about everything and lived the moments… and there were so many beautiful moments which made us even happier.
Tell us about the location you chose for your day?
Getting married in our farm house was always in the back of our mind, but we thought it was too much to pull it off and organize. After we checked some of the venues available we decided to celebrate in our farm house nonetheless. It was also close to the church and people would not have to travel far and think about drinking or enjoying the night to the fullest. Even for us it was beautiful to keep the tradition and leave from our family houses going to the church. And so, we decided to go back to the roots and to celebrate at the place we both come from!
Tell us about the special details of your glamorous backyard wedding?
The wedding had the colours we also have in our home. Black and white with shades of blue. We wanted our guests to see who we are, what we like and to make them feel literally at home. I can’t tell which part I liked the most but I think everyone love the swing. We danced our first dance to the song of Frank Sinatra “fly me to the moon” which matched to the proposal and describes what we feel for each other. Every detail in this wedding was studied hard and I had the best help from my wedding planner which even made the toilets looking like you were in a 7 star hotel!
What was your favourite detail of your day and who were your favourite vendors?
Seeing everyone happy and seeing that everything we planned turned out as we wanted, after so many months and uncertainty if the wedding will take place.
The whole team was just amazing. I will start from our wedding planner Georgia which introduced as to the best photographers, catering and event planner which made this wedding happen and were working for days! Our guests are still talking about the delicious food and the amazing “venue”. We were so lucky that we had the best photographer and videographer who made it possible to take us back to this day through their photos and videos.
