Maritime Beach Wedding in Crete with a Very Special Bridal Bouquet
Take inspiration from Maria and Tomasz’s beautiful maritime wedding. The couple choose Rethymno Beach in Crete as their ceremony and wedding venue. The whole event was captured by HannaMonika Wedding Photography. Read their story bellow.

“We chose to get married in Crete, on Rethymno Beach because it’s very much a part of who we are. Tomasz works as a captain and I work as a marine biologist. We even met on a boat, so it felt right to get married in front of the sea.
My dress was Inez 54107 – Willow by Watters. I actually bought a dress about a year before the wedding but after some issues with the shop I bought it from and some badly done alterations, I ended up buying a second dress. So, it took a while to find the perfect one but I am so happy with the one I ended up with. Regarding the shoes, I wanted to keep things simple as it was a beach wedding. Therefore, I wanted to feel the sand between my toes. Instead of shoes, I wore freshwater pearl barefoot sandals that I found on Etsy.
For Tomasz we went smart casual. He wore Hugo Boss Chinos with a white shirt and Circolo waistcoat. He looked so dashing! My bridesmaids wore a navy-blue dress by Kelsey Rose, as the whole theme of the wedding was nautical. We chose this theme because it suits us well. We both work on ships and spend a lot of time in and around the ocean. My bridal bouquet was quite special and of course sea inspired. It was made completely from shells. I chose this to suit the theme of the wedding and so I could keep it forever to remember the day. I loved my bouquet!
We had a personalized wedding cake topper made of the two of us scuba diving. This is a big hobby of ours that we learnt together in Fiji where we got engaged, so this was great to have for the cake. We made our own driftwood table places with each guest’s name on and we made drift wood sailboats for the table numbers. The decorations added by the team in Crete were beautiful!
We invited about 70 guests and only 50 could join us. The whole preparation took about a year and a half but very easy to plan. We filled in the information we were asked for and selected the items we wanted for the day. It meant there was no stress at all while planning the wedding which was great!
Everyone made the trip a holiday and came out to Crete for the week before the wedding. We had our bachelor and bachelorette parties in Greece as well. This meant everyone knew each other by the wedding day which was lovely. It meant we got to celebrate for a whole week not just a day.
The whole day was absolutely amazing! We had Tomasz’s friend marry us on the beach. He did an incredible job! The whole day was organized really well. The food was delicious. The beach party was great fun. We had an open bar of great drinks and danced the night away on the beach.
The best memory over all is marrying the love of my life in front of all our friends and family on the beach!”
