Blush and White Grecian Santorini Wedding with Olive Branches
“It was always our dream to get married abroad.”
Vicki and Lee got married in Santorini, on one of those famous sunset terraces. They saw many Greek islands in the past and were absolutely in love with the overall feel and island style.
Before booking their wedding, they made an extensive research on venue selection and even visited the island, With the help of their wedding planner they chose the venue that suited their needs perfectly. “The best excuse for a holiday!” said the bride.
From Lisa and the bride:
They invited about 70 guests, from which 57 attended. Vicki and Lee booked their wedding 18 months in advance to make sure everything will be planed and to give more notice to their guests to plan for a special holiday. “We were truly honoured so many people came to celebrate with us!”
The dress and the suit
The bride wore a dress called Isla by Enzoani. “I fell in love with it as soon as I tried it on; I’d wanted something slim fitting with a detailed back.” The dress was paired with a beautiful full-length veil with beautiful lace detail, hand sewn onto the edge to match the dress.
Accessories were simple and few like, metallic silver shoes and the bag, from Asos and her grandma’s silver bangle as something borrowed. The special vail, attached with fresh flowers, brought the whole look to completion.
Lee wore a navy tuxedo suit from Next with a navy bow tie. The rest of the bridal party wore a classic navy suit with navy bow ties. “They had blush pink and navy stitching to match our wedding colours and our wedding date and their initials embroidered on the lapel and inside the buttonholes. Something special for them to keep.”
The bridesmaid dresses in blush pink and Grecian style were also from Asos. “I searched for ages and as soon as I saw them online I bought them about a year ahead of the wedding.” To complete the look, the girls wore Grecian olive leaf crowns in their hair with rose gold accessories. Flower girl, bride’s niece, wore a beautiful ivory flower girl dress from Monsoon.
Flowers and Food
Vicky choose white peonies and fresh olive leaves for the bridal bouquet. “When my bouquet arrived, I was over the moon, it was even better than I’d ever imagined!” Her bridesmaids had smaller versions with white roses and olive branches to be in style with the theme. Tables were decorated with a mixture of blush pink and white roses with local flowers. The wedding theme was inspired by the white and modern design of the island and venue with Grecian inspired details.
Their cake was a three-tiered chocolate and vanilla sponge with fresh olive leaves for decoration to fit with the theme. The cake cutting moment was made even more special with personalised sparklers for all of the guests to use as the couple cut the cake. “We stuck with the traditional Greek menu option and the food was incredible, beautifully presented and really delicious.”
Leisure and Décor
Vicky envisioned a special white porcelain hearts with quotes reading ‘To Have and To Hold’ or ‘Love is All You Need’ as favours for all of the women. Each chair had a little wooden fan with blush pink ribbons, to keep the guests cool during the ceremony and the white parasols, which made lovely props for photos. “We’d also provided an open bar for of all our guests as a thank you. It went down a treat. The cocktails were unbelievable!”
The whole event was a bit over the initial budget, but the couple knew what they wanted and were not afraid to ask for it. “We spent more than we originally intended but didn’t mind at all, it was worth every penny! I know if we’d have got married in the UK we would have spent a lot more than in Santorini.”
Everyone was more than happy to have an excuse to travel to Santorini, where they actually stayed whole ten days with their beloved friends and family. Relaxing feeling and atmosphere brought everyone closer as they celebrated their special day. “As soon as we got there I felt so calm. It’s hard not to relax when you’re on such a beautiful island. The spectacular views blew everyone away and provided a backdrop we couldn’t have got anywhere else. It was breath-taking.”
For everyone considering their wedding abroad, the couple had this to say:
“It’s a holiday we’ll never forget. I can’t recommend a wedding abroad enough, it was our dream day and we couldn’t be happier with how everything went.”
