My name is Sanya, the founder of Ellwed magazine and I will be your host today. Join me in this new episode where we talk with Claire Salisbury the Wedding planner and owner of Lefkas Weddings.

Claire has been working in Greece for over ten years. Starting in the tourism industry where she worked for luxury Tour Operators like Greek Island Club and Travelux. Before starting her own wedding planning business in Greece, she also got some experience in women’s fashion and styling while living in the UK. 

She specialises on planning destination weddings on the Ionian coast. She offers in depth knowledge of locations where she lived and worked. That is how, she can really suggest the most suitable places for each couple based on their wishes and can incorporate the location details they would love.

Her styled shoots were featured in Wedding Ideas Magazine and in various wedding blogs as well as on the cover of Ellwed magazine.

Tell us a bit about your story, what lead you to your current career path?

I have been working in Greece for over ten years and in the tourism industry. I worked for luxury Tour Operators like Greek Island Club, Travelux etc and I managed their villa programme, then I worked for a Greek company for a year. In the UK I have been an accountant, and worked in women’s fashion as a merchandiser and stylist.  I have had styled shoots featured in Ellwed and Wedding Ideas Magazine and been featured in various wedding blogs!

Before starting Lefkas Weddings, I have lived and worked in all the areas that I plan weddings so I really know them very well and I can really suggest the most suitable places for each couple based on their ideas and the location details they would love.

What inspires you in the business and daily life?

Inspired by colours and architecture in the island as I go around with my daily jobs.

Is there one question that almost every client asks you about their wedding in Greece? What is it and what is your answer?

How much does it cost!It is so difficult as everyone has different requirements and so it is not one size fits all. Just to get married in Greece, the very basic just for the legalities is a couple of hundred Euros but I am assuming all our clients want all the lovely extras that make the day fabulous!

So what we need is some simple basics. Where, when and how many people are joining you plus a rough idea of what you are dreaming of, then a planner can give you a budget for the type of wedding you are considering.

And for the last question, what advice would you give to all couples who want to get married in Greece? What is that one important thing your brides should know or pay attention to before coming to Greece?

Don’t worry about following tradition. Make your wedding yours. But I share so much of useful advice in my Ellwed Talks episode, so I suggest you listen till the end!
