How did you meet and how did Alex propose?
We have known each other since high school when I was 12 and Alex was 14. With a mutual friend we grew up in the same circles, stayed in touch and three years later Alex plucked up the courage to ask me out. In true teenage style via messenger!
We felt like soul mates from the very beginning and although being together for ten years, marriage was never too high on our agenda so Alex’s proposal at my parent’s house was somewhat out of the blue! Family from both sides had gathered for my Nan’s birthday to give her a little celebration as she was also fighting cancer at this time and we wanted to keep her in high spirits. Alex took the opportunity of having our favourite people in one place and proposed in front of our families, having secured my Dad’s blessing moments before he did the deed! There were lots of tears and champagne all round.
Why did you choose Parga to marry, why is it special to you?
We have always holidayed in Greece and love the culture. Parga is a hidden gem and ticks every box for the setting, traditional charm and hustle and bustle we love. Our family enjoyed a holiday there a few years before and on high recommendations we decided to visit ourselves. We fell in love with it and it became our natural choice for the perfect wedding destination.
What drew you to choosing Villa Rossa?
It is a striking, beautiful red building, set amongst the pine trees on the tip of Parga sea front and it is hard not to look at Villa Rossa and be in awe. We enjoyed a meal there whilst on holiday and the food and staff were outstanding. As we looked out to sea from our table and up to the castle on the hill we knew it was a special place to host our wedding dinner.
What was the best part(s) of the day?
To celebrate in front of our wonderful family and friends at Parga castle, looking down to the sea and town in a beautiful setting was a moment we’ll never forget. We loved walking back through the streets with locals and tourists wishing us well and the journey on the Parga train will always be a fun memory, our friends haven’t stopped talking about it!
How did you plan your special day?
We made contact with Claire last year and flew out to meet her to scope out our venue. We never had any doubt in working with Claire from the moment we met as she is funny, smart and down to earth, with an abundance of unique ideas to meet any budget.
Claire showed us the most beautiful settings and little hidden gems for wedding locations throughout Lefkas, Parga and other areas, which made the decision incredibly tough. But Parga has always held a special place in our hearts, so it was a perfect setting by the castle for vows, followed by a beachside reception.
We can’t thank Claire enough for making the whole process so hassle free. Regular contact via phone, email and speedy responses put our minds at ease from the offset and Claire worked tirelessly to make sure our wedding was everything we had dreamed of. The land train was a fun touch for transporting our guests and the decorations, flowers and attention to detail in all aspects of the day was stunning.
Claire has some really special contacts to help source the best supplies and everybody has been a pleasure to work with. Our wedding was so special to us and our family and we know that whilst it seemed so easy from our side, Claire deserves all the credit and appreciation we can give as we know she works incredibly hard behind the scenes to research, plan and pull everything together.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, we really are in awe of you and what you achieved for us. Our Parga wedding was everything and more. Love Georgina & Alex xx
