Simple Down to Earth Elopement in Naxos
You may be used to the big, lush and luxurious weddings. But we decided to show you the other side of weddings, like this simple down to earth private elopement in Naxos.
Mihaela and Andrei came to Greece to experience the culture and the beautiful Greek nature without any distractions. They envisioned a very simple, yet very romantic ceremony without any decor or even the bridal bouquet!
If you want to look back in time and follow traditions, this is the way yo go. And what else do you really need, when you have the love of your life next to you and sharing these sacred moments with each other? Enjoy this romantic story of Mihaela and Andrei and their best friends.
The whole event was captured by Stefan Fekete Photography.
From Andra Dumitriu:
“Before we continue with the story, we just want to say that Mihaela and Andrei’s elopement wedding, is the perfect example that you don’t need to spend a lot, in order to have your dream wedding.
Stefan and I, are husband and wife, destination photographers and crazy for Greece and this particular story is very special to us. Mihaela and Andrei are two of our best friends, ever since high school.
When me and my husband decided to elope and get married in Greece, they were the only people that knew about it.
They were very excited for us and we were very happy, that we’ve inspired them to elope with to Naxos. They were together for several years and wanted something very intimate for their wedding. We just love to meet people that share the same beliefs with us.
And if you are planning a wedding soon, let us give you a piece of advice: you don’t have to do your wedding like everybody else. YOU are unique, there is no reason to hold back on what YOU like, for your Wedding Day.
This is a once in a lifetime event and you should do it, just the way you and your partner (and nobody else) want it!
In the end, it’s your wedding, not theirs. If you can dream it, you can do it!
Mihaela and Andrei, had both ceremonies in Naxo, civil and religious ceremony. The scenery for the civil ceremony was like it came out the the painting by Pantelis Zografos. It was held in a little and beautiful bay, at the end of Agia Anna beach, with a view on Paros island and the sea, in the background.
It was early in the morning, as we have recommended them – better light and less people on the beach. The sky was blue, the sea was calm, the silence was only broken when little taxi boats, were passing by, decorating the sea with their orange colors.
Oh, and we didn’t tell you about the little church from the hill, right next to the bay. One of the prettiest in Naxos.
Here, I had to do my duties as the maid of hour and Stefan was by his own. And yes, I’ve dropped a tear. Ok, maybe a few more. But they were tears of happiness, seeing my best friend getting married, in such special place.
Because we had only one day in between our wedding ceremonies, we decided to celebrate together, along with some friends from the island, with a special dinner, at one of our favorite restaurants from Naxos, Flamingo Restaurant. The atmosphere was even more special with live Greek music, very good food and super friendly staff. our night ended with lots of wine and dancing, broken plates, a wedding dance, a very nice surprise cake and lots of beautiful memories.
Mihaela and Andrei, thank you very much for giving us the honor to be both your wedding photographers and your witnesses! May you live a beautiful love story and may we celebrate the first anniversary, all together, in beautiful Naxos, next year!”
