Things Everyone Forgets to Plan for Their Wedding Day Talk with Renée Dalo
Welcome to the new season of Ellwed Talks! We are happy to officially welcome you to the second season of our podcast about destination weddings in Greece!
As you might have seen already from our Instagram posts. We at Ellwed had a lot of news to share with the beginning on this well anticipated New Year! But one of them was the amazing feature on Wedding Wire blog! Ellwed Talks was selected among others as the best wedding podcasts to listen to in 2021! How exciting is that?? I still can’t believe it!
On top of that I had the chance to be part of history in the making with the Wedding Trend Report 24 hour live summit. I got the chance to represent Ellwed together with over 30 speakers and 3000 listeners from around the globe! It’s simply mind blowing! You can download the trend report at weddingacademyglobal.com/trend-report and read my expert advice on the pages 34 to 36!!! Oh, and one of our cover shoots was also featured in there!
All this wouldn’t be possible without wonderful Meghan Ely of OFD consulting! So a big shout out and thank you to her! Make sure to find her interview on Ellwed Talks in our previous episodes.
And now, Join me in this new episode where we talk with Renée Dalo

In this episode you can get to know Renée and Her story. We dive deep into wedding planning and Things Everyone Forgets to Plan for their Wedding Day. Renée shares lots of valuable advice from her personal and professional experiences as a wedding planner!
Tell us a bit about your story, what lead you to your current career path?
Wedding planning wasn’t always in the cards for me. Instead, what started out as a seemingly one-time favor for a friend evolved into a thriving side-hustle to my acting career. When it was my turn to walk down the aisle, I flipped the script and discovered that the wedding industry was truly where I belonged. Shortly after her “I do’s,” I started Moxie Bright Events, a boutique wedding planning company, and never looked back.
What inspires you in business and daily life?
Oh, I certainly get inspiration everywhere! For wedding design, I love to watch the runway shows from NY and Paris – not the wedding runway shows, but high fashion. So much of the design we see on runways eventually trickles down to wedding design & fashion. I also love to take inspiration from architecture and music as well. Inspiration is everywhere!
What was your best experience as a wedding planner?
I’ve been fortunate to have so many great experiences as a Wedding Planner. One that stands out, on a particular Wedding Day, is a four-day Indian-American wedding we did in Palm Springs. Every event at that wedding was so special and fun, and the guests were so engaged and relaxed and it just felt like a vacation for everyone. (Not me & my team, lol, but everyone else!)
What trend do you see picking up in the world of weddings?
I think we are going to see smaller intimate weddings taking centre stage for the next few years. Doing more for fewer guests. We did a 20 person wedding with a 10-course dinner, which was amazing, intimate, and made everyone feel connected and special. I see this becoming a new normal. A “dinner party wedding”.
Is there one question that almost every client asks you about their wedding? What is it and what is your answer?
The question I hear most often is “how do we balance what we want for our wedding with what our families expect”? The answer is Communication – setting expectations and having the (potentially) tough conversations early on is key.
Which is your favourite location for a destination wedding in Greece and why?
Santorini is my fave location in Greece. I haven’t yet done a wedding there, but I would love to!
Tell us a bit more about what you are currently working on?
We launched the Los Angeles Small Wedding Collective with 5 other Wedding Planners this year, and we are looking forward to getting back to work.
